"The more slowly trees grow at first, the sounder they are at the core and I think the same is true of human beings."
Henry David Thoreau

Hello, my name is Natalie and I am a qualified, specialist dyslexia tutor working with primary and secondary school age learners with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.

me_edited.jpg

I am a qualified and experienced dyslexia tutor holding the British Dyslexia Association Level 5 Certificate in Dyslexia; Literacy, Support and Intervention (certificate is available to view upon request).

I worked in primary education, as part of the Inclusion Team, for 18 years, supporting many learners with literacy difficulties and dyslexia, which was a job I loved. Having moved house to a new area closer to my family, I am now able to work independently, supporting many more children through their exciting, learning journey.

For your reassurance, I have an enhanced  DBS certificate (certificate is available to view upon request) and I am also registered with the ICO (UK Information Commissioner’s Office)

I am a member of The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) and The British Dyslexia Association (BDA). I conform to their Code of Ethics and Continued Professional Development (CPD) and am listed on both indexes as a qualified specialist tutor.

About Me

How I can help

Prior to starting weekly lessons, your child will be informally assessed in order to establish their profile of strengths and difficulties in literacy skills.

A research-based, personalised, structured, multi-sensory and cumulative programme of work will be provided through 60 minute, one to one, face to face lessons in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Specific skills are developed through games and multisensory channels, with lots of opportunities for your child to overlearn and revisit, helping to embed the new learning. This leads to increased self esteem and confidence, enabling your child to work towards achieving their full potential.

Each child progresses at their own rate as new strategies take time to learn. Progress is regularly reviewed and fed-back to parents.

A small amount of follow-up homework is set each lesson. Parents will need to be prepared to help their child practice a range of short routines several times a week.

With this parental support and 'teamwork' approach, it is likely that your child will progress successfully through the program.

Learning takes place onsite in my peaceful garden 'Shepherds Hut'. I am located in Winslow, Buckinghamshire.
