Hello

Natalie Longhurst Dyslexia Specialist Tuition

My name is Natalie Longhurst and I am a specialist dyslexia tutor working with primary school age dyslexic learners.

PATOSS and BDA Professional Member

About Me

I am a qualified and experienced dyslexia tutor holding the British Dyslexia Association Level 5. Certificate in Dyslexia; Literacy, Support and Intervention. I have worked in primary education for 18 years supporting learners with literacy difficulties and dyslexia. I am a member of The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) and The British Dyslexia Association (BDA). I conform to their Code of Ethics and Continued Professional Development (CPD) and am listed on both indexes as a qualified specialist tutor.

How I can help

Your child will be assessed in order to establish a profile of strengths and difficulties in literacy skills. Personalized, structured, multi-sensory and cumulative, one to one tuition is provided in a relaxed, supportive environment. Specific skills are developed with lots of opportunities for your child to overlearn and revisit, helping to embed the new learning. This leads to increased self esteem and confidence, enabling your child to work towards achieving their full potential. Each child progresses at their own rate as new strategies take time to learn. Progress is regularly reviewed and fed-back to parents. A small amount of follow-up homework is set each lesson. Parents will need to be prepared to help their child practice a range of short routines several times a week. With this parental support and 'teamwork' approach, it is likely that your child will progress successfully through the program.
